The 2023 Gowns for Prom program presented by The Allstate Foundation was a huge success!
Taking place on stage at Shea's Buffalo on April 11, 12, and 13, the 15th Annual Gowns for Prom was the first distribution event to take place since the pandemic. And boy were we excited to be back!
Three straight days of glitter, glam, and joy filled the stage as students were able to look through thousands of dresses, try them on, and leave with the gown of their dreams at NO COST.
For many students, not being able to afford a gown for their prom is devastating. Gowns for Prom is dedicated to making sure every student has a gown for their prom in WNY, ensuring that all students get to go to prom without the pressure of purchasing an expensive gown.
This year, we distributed more than 1,000 gowns, had more than 100 volunteers, and received THOUSANDS of gown donations from the WNY community and local boutiques.
Every gown in our program has been donated. We rely on gown donations to further this program, so we can't thank the WNY community enough for looking through their closets and donating gowns. YOU are the reason we can help make a difference with Gowns for Prom.
We also want to give a special thanks to Reeds Jenss for donating 1,000 pieces of jewelry to give to students who attended our Gowns for Prom event at NO COST.
Also, to Marlena Gagner and Meraki Jewelry Design via her Jewelry for Prom program. All year, Marlena and her team of jewelry makers and volunteers, create one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry for students to take at NO COST. Their amazing work guarantees our students leave the Gowns for Prom program feeling beautiful!
We couldn't do any of this without our amazing partners.
Lastly, even though our distribution event is over for the year, we want to remind you that we collect ALL YEAR ROUND! You can donate gowns, shoes, purses, and jewelry at any of our donation locations.
